My new research project “Decarbonizing Transportation Infrastructure in Systems of Multilevel Governance: The Mobility Transition in Canada and Germany” examines how multilevel governance affects efforts to decarbonize the transportation sector. In this short piece, I argue that reducing the limit to 30 km/h on more roads is the most obvious way cities can get serious about decarbonizing their transportation infrastructure.
